**This is an old revision of the document!**

One of the fastest (and easiest) ways to get gear at level 60 is by utilizing the Nexus system. This is essentially an open-world raid where many groups can work together to take down enemies. After, it ends up leading in to a Traverse, an instance that is locked to each raid group. Through this article we are going to be looking at how it all works and what you need to know. So let's get started!

Nexus Times

The time the Nexus starts is different from day to day. Some days have multiple times. The days and times they occur is as follows:

  • Monday: 12 PM, 7 PM
  • Tuesday: 7 PM
  • Thursday: 7 PM
  • Friday: 12 PM, 7 PM
  • Saturday: 2 AM, 12 PM, 7 PM
  • Sunday: 2 AM, 12 PM, 7 PM

All times shown are in PST so you will need to adapt them to your local time zone.

Before you start, you want to grab the repeatable Nexus quest and whichever daily is available. You will find these at Zulfikar Fortress in the southern area of the town. You can grab all of the available quests here, although you really just care about those that deal with the Nexus for this purpose. These quests are also not required, although they do grant reputation and gold that can help your journey considerably.

Where to Go Now

Generally, players who run the Nexus will move over to Kanstria. You can fly there straight from Zulfikar Fortress, making the path pretty easy. It is worth noting that there are also Nexi in Zulfikar Fortress (to the north) and this used to be where the majority of people ran them, so I'm not quite sure why the change occurred. I mention this because it could change at any time. Just be aware that both zones have them.

Grouping Up

Grouping up is a big part of the Nexus system. There are two ways to do this: find a group prior to the Nexus or join one of the automatic groups that can be found in a Nexus area (if you enter one without a group it will ask if you want to be automatically matched). Between these, finding a group early is the best bet since it increases the chances you will be able to make it through the Traverse as well (a lot of times, the random groups will fall apart prior).

You can usually find groups starting at around 30 minutes prior to the Nexus. To do so, toss a message (or multiple) in to the LFG channel (/u). Just shouting that you are looking for a group for the Nexus should suffice for finding a group. Do note, however, that they come with different sizes. Some players want small groups and others want large. Smaller means more drops, larger means a faster Traverse run. If you care about the group size, be sure to add that in to your looking for group message.

Once you are in a group, it is time to go meet up with them! Most groups will start meeting up 15 minutes prior to the Nexus start, but it isn't necessary if you have something else you're trying to do.

Starting the Nexus

Starting 10 minutes prior to the Nexus, they will start spawning. These will be inactive at first, allowing you to see the locations of them. Along with this, you will find a NPC in each one that starts a quest. This quest is good for that Nexus, and it is important to grab the quest!

Each Nexus allows 120 players to take the quest. If you are at one that already has this many people, you can help take it down but you will not get any rewards. As such, keep up with your group and be sure you grab the quests as soon as possible as you go from one Nexus to another.

Clearing the Nexi

There are many Nexi that will spawn. Knock them out one by one, helping your group. Essentially what you want to do is clear the entire zone, which will spawn the Nexus Traverse and allow your group to enter. It is also worth noting that as you are clearing the zone, you may see another Nexus or two spawn in another area, so there is sometimes a little back and forth running to knock them out. They will not, however, spawn indefinitely. Usually it is just two or so extra Nexi that come up.

Boosting Rewards

If you happen to be a subscriber, you have daily buffs that increase gold, reputation and credits from quests. These do work with the Nexus as well, so it is a good idea to use the buffs when you run these. Each Nexus has a total of three quests, and all of them are boosted by the buffs. The best plan for using the buffs is to wait until the first Nexus opens (actually opens, not just when it is in the 10 minute timer where you can speak to the NPC to get the quest). This will ensure that you maximize the time you spend with the buffs.

Continuing On

This article has covered the Nexus system. The next part deals with the Nexus Traverse, which is the instanced dungeon that is related to this. It is covered in its own article.
