2014-2015 NBA Threads Basketball Cards Blaster Review

The hype surrounding the 2014 NBA rookie class is huge. The hype is even bigger among basketball card collectors. One of my goals this year is to get as many rookie cards as possible. I recently heard about a set of basketball cards called Threads produced by Panini America. These cards are only available for purchase at Target stores. The 2014 – 2015 Threads Basketball cards come in three variations.

  • Premium Box: 6 packs, 10 cards per pack
  • Blaster Box: 1 pack per box, 20 cards per box
  • Gravity Pack: 1 pack and 10 Cards per pack

I decided to purchase a box. I drove down to my local Target store and found that they had several Premium and Blaster boxes of the 2014-2015 Threads Basketball cards in stock. I decided to purchase a blaster box and drove home to open my cards. The cards came in a mostly red box with John Wall on the cover sealed in plastic with the Panini logo on it. The box contained 1 packs with 20 cards in the pack. Each box promises 1 memorabilia card and two Blaster-exclusive “Wood Rookie Cards”. This gave me hope of getting at least one quality card in the box. I proceeded to open the box and then the pack of cards. This entire process took me just three minutes. I enjoyed the entire experience. Below are the contents of my 2014-2015 Threads Basketball blaster box:

  • Card #1 – Nene
  • Card #2 – Michael Carter-Williams
  • Card #3 – Marcin Gortat
  • Card #4 – LaMarcus Aldridge
  • Card #5 – Luc Mbah A Moute
  • Card #6 – Stephen Curry
  • Card #7 – Russell Westbrook
  • Card #8 – Rajon Rondo
  • Card #9 – Alonzo Mourning
  • Card #10 – Alec Burks
  • Card #11 – Al Horford
  • Card #12 – Kawhi Leonard
  • Card #13 – Karl Malone
  • Card #14 – Julius Erving
  • Card #15 – Jose Calderon
  • Card #16 – Derrick Rose – Floor Generals Insert
  • Card #17 – Anthony Davis – 23 Replica Jersey
  • Card #18 – Damjan Rudez – Wood Rookie Card
  • Card #19 – Zach Lavine - Wood Rookie Card
  • Card #20 – Dante Exum – Rookie Threads memorabilia card

Overall I was impressed with this basketball card purchase from Target. I received Wood rookie cards of Damjan Rudez and Zach Lavine. Both of those players have been contributors during their rookie year in the NBA. I didn’t receive an autograph card, but I did receive a Dante Exum Rookie Threads memorabilia card. He was a first round pick and has been a contributor this season for his team the Utah Jazz. The box was priced a little high for a blaster, but I believe I got some good cards overall. I’m not sure if I’ll purchase another blaster box. I do recommend to those collectors who want the opportunity to get some nice looking cards that include members of the 2014 NBA rookie class to give Threads Basketball cards a try.
