2014-2015 NBA Prestige Basketball Cards Blaster Review

The hype surrounding the 2014 NBA rookie class is huge. The hype is even bigger among basketball card collectors. One of my goals this year is to get as many rookie cards as possible. I recently heard about a set of basketball cards called Prestige produced by Panini America. These cards are only available for purchase at Target stores. The Prestige cards come in four box variations.

  • Premium Box: 4 packs, 15 cards per pack
  • Plus Box: 10 packs per box, 10 cards per pack
  • Blaster Box: 7 packs per box, 10 cards per pack
  • Hanger Box: 1 pack and 10 Cards per box

I decided to purchase a box. I drove down to my local Target store and found that they had several blaster boxes of the 2014-2015 Prestige Basketball cards in stock. I purchased a box and drove home to open my cards. The cards came in a white box sealed in plastic with the Panini logo on it. The box contained 7 packs and 10 cards in each pack for a total of 70 cards. Each box promises 1 autograph or memorabilia card. This gave me hope of getting at least one quality card in the box. I proceeded to open the box and then the 7 packs of cards. This entire process took me sixteen minutes. I enjoyed the entire experience. Below are the pack by pack contents of my 2014-2015 Prestige Basketball blaster box:

  • Pack #1 – Lebron James, David Lee, Eric Gordon, Xavier Thames RC, Deron Williams Franchise Favorites, JJ Redick, Randy Foye, Jeff Green, Anderson Varejao, Dennis Schroder
  • Pack #2 – Nerlens Noel, Ben Mclemore, Brandon Knight, Goran Dragic, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cory Jefferson RC, Gerald Henderson Bonus Shots #9/49, Lebron James Hardcourt Heroes, Rajon Rondo, Arron Afflalo

  • Pack #4 – Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, Nick Collison, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Demar DeRozan, Gerald Green, Ryan Anderson, Julius Randle RC, Lebron James Franchise Favorites, Michael Beasley
  • Pack #5 – Nikola Pekovic, Ersan Ilyasova, Jared Sullinger, Carlos Boozer, Stephen Curry, Kenneth Faried, Doug McDermott RC, Thaddeus Young, Jarnell Stokes RC, Chris Bosh Hardcourt Heroes
  • Pack #6 – Zach Randolph, DeMarcus Cousins, David West, Nicolas Batum, Rudy Gay, Roy Hibbert, Jabari Parker RC, Joakim Noah Prestigious Posts, Gordon Hayward, Tyler Ennis True Colors #192/199 Jersey Card
  • Pack #7 – Enes Kanter, Kemba Walker, Luol Deng, Jason Thompson, Tobias Harris, LaMarcus Aldridge, Aaron Gordon RC, Bill Walton/LaMarcus Aldridge Connections, Dwyane Wade, Cody Zeller

Overall I was impressed with this basketball card purchase from Target. I received rookie cards of Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Aaron Gordon. Those players were three of the first four players selected in the NBA Draft. I didn’t receive an autograph card, but I did receive a Tyler Ennis True Colors memorabilia card. He was a first round pick and should be a contributor this season for his team the Phoenix Suns. The box was also reasonably priced and I believe I got some good cards overall. I’m not sure if I’ll purchase another blaster box. I plan to purchase one of the other box variations of Prestige in the future. I do recommend to those collectors who want the opportunity to get some nice looking cards that include members of the 2014 NBA rookie class to give Prestige Basketball cards a try.
