Why Don't Fundamentalist Christians Believe In Executing Homosexuals Like The Bible Calls For?

Whenever fundamentalist Christians take part in polls asking if they believe the government should make gay marriage legal, they, almost to a person, say, no. If you ask them why they answered, no, they say it's because the Bible is against it.

Technically, the Bible is against, a man laying with another man as he would lay with a woman, (or, a woman laying with another woman), which, of course, indicates sexual activity. From that, Christians extrapolate that God is against gay marriage.

In this short essay, we won't go down the road of distinction between marriage and sexual consummation, or talk about sexless marriages, or even deal with the difference between God's judgement for sin versus humankind's punishment for crime. Those are conversations for another discussion.

The main focus of this piece is the way so many self proclaimed followers of God, are so willing to pick and choose which parts of the holy scriptures to follow, and to go so far as to try to make everybody else follow. If you ask a fundamentalist Christian where in the Bible it tells them that gay marriage is against God's will, they will likely cite Leviticus 18:22, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”

As stated, in this particular post, we won't even get into the question of whether all abominations should be illegal. We will mention briefly that Leviticus is even stronger regarding abomination when it deals with the act of eating shellfish.

Homosexuality gets two abominations in Leviticus, while shellfish gets four. I guess it's true that God hates shrimp. The consumption of shellfish is evidently fully two times worse an abomination than mere homosexual activity.

Leviticus 11:9-12 says:

9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an ABOMINATION unto you:

11 They shall be even an ABOMINATION unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in ABOMINATION.

12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an ABOMINATION unto you.

Of course, fundamentalists will tell you that verses and concepts in the new testament disallow various proscriptions, (i.e. orders banning something), from the old testament, including this one regarding shellfish. Yet, like most of the Bible, that's a matter of interpretation, usually stemming from the particular religious sect (denomination) you grew up in.

The argument is that the classification of laws some Biblical scholars refer to as, ceremonial laws, no longer apply in the modern age, or the classification of dietary laws only apply to Jewish people, so Christians never needed to be concerned about them. But, as stated, it all depends upon how your particular sect tells you to interpret all this.

The great thing is that no matter which sect you were born into, you are right. Everyone knows they were born into not only the one true religion, but the truest sect of that religion.

At any rate, the Bible scholars and those who follow their interpretations, are quick to remind us that the admonishment against homosexual intercourse falls under what they call moral law, which still stands, for all people. Therefore, when you are having this conversation with someone, be sure to direct them to the following verse:

Leviticus 20:13

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”

You hopefully understand, that isn't a prediction that the Lord will strike them with lightning or turn them to pillars of salt. Nope. It is instruction for God's people to execute the homos, and even not worry about having proverbial blood on their hands for killing them (even though, the proscription of murder is one of the 10 biggie commandments, ironically)… since the sodomites brought it on themselves by being abominations and not following the moral law.

Now obviously, they can't go out as agents of God and kill gay people on their own, in our modern day and age. Yet it can not be argued from the fundamentalist point of view, that the policy of capital punishment for homosexuals is something a nation that follows the rules God has provided humankind, would be doing, if it was a Godly nation.

So be sure to ask them why they are not trying to change the laws to get them to match up with the moral laws in the Bible. If God's will is the same yesterday, today and forever, and if they believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible, why are they not, as good Christians, calling for the death penalty for homosexuals?

After all, they are so ready to forever continue to deny gay folks their right to equality, based on the book they say they live by, but it's beginning to appear that they evidently pick which parts they wish to deal with.

In instances where they can't come up with other verses that they can say cancel out parts of the Bible they would rather forget, they just ignore them altogether. I guess that pretending they don't exist is preferable to looking like a maniac, which they certainly would if they were consistent in their Biblical stances. They would be rounding up their neighbors to take their disrespectful children to the edge of town to stone them to death. 1)

Of course it's pure hypocrisy. If they were consistent in their alleged belief in the literal interpretation of the Bible, they would start out with calling for the rounding up all, self admitted homosexuals.

The trials would be to find evidence that they are, indeed, out of the closet gays. As soon as the verdict comes in, the execution should be swift. Then they should try to enact police enforcement that includes raids on gay bars.

It's unlikely that courts would be able to convict every single person in the room, as some people could say they were just tolerant people who worked there. Others could say they just got there and didn't realize it was a gay establishment. Still others would say they were trying to convert them to God's way, etc., etc.

However, with proper police investigation, especially in the day and age of the surveillance state, the vast majority of those arrested would likely be executed. Can I get an, 'amen'?

This is especially true if the police get some of them to rat on the others, in hopes of being saved from execution themselves. (Of course, there would be no exceptions. The police are allowed to lie.)

Speaking of surveillance technology, fundamentalist Christians should work toward using the existing infrastructure to find evidence of homosexual activity amongst everyone who is in the closet. There is next to nothing that gets hidden from the NSA.

If the intelligence agencies were reluctant to give up the information, than Christians should hold massive demonstrations at NSA headquarters, in Fort Meade, Maryland, so that every last person who ever engaged in homosexual activity will be put to death, in accordance with God's law.

While the NSA is disseminating the sexuality information, the fundamentalist Christians should urge them to let the cat out of the bag, regarding which children have cursed their parents. That too, is a capital crime in a fundamentalist Judeo-Christian nation.

Of course, there should be some debate regarding the meaning of, “curse,” but once that is established, it would be quite a bonus for the fundamentalists to have that information, so that the children can be put to death, along with the homos.

Perhaps you are not aware of the moral law (still in effect), stated in Leviticus 20:9:

“For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him.”

Someone must have skimmed through this quickly, not realizing the writer is not for punishing gay people with arrest and execution. I am adding this to make sure nobody leaves with that impression. I also took out a closing paragraph that was written satirically that seemed to be saying that, if the satire was missed.

Not only do I not want to see disrespectful children and gays executed, I happen to honestly believe that Jesus Would Vote Yes On A Gay Marriage Initiative.
