DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Simple solution to annoying problem when adding admin roles in Facebook

Have you ever wanted to bang your head against the wall when trying to add someone as an Admin in Facebook? We have, and with the limited support Facebook offers it gets even more frustrating!

Well we just learned something new to us while working with a client to set GoodFella’s up as the admin for their page. Facebook would not allow us to be added as admin. Not on this page or any of his other 5 pages he needed managed for his various car lots. It said we had to like the page which we had of course already done, or that we were already an admin of that page.

After trying a zillion times, going through what we thought was every possible option, we decided to look in the privacy settings. THE GOLDEN NUGGET WAS REVEALED! The solution was simple.

We had to login to our own account and go to our privacy settings. You do this by simply clicking on the gear at the top right of your page, and then going to account settings, then to privacy on the left.

In the section near the bottom that says “Who can look you up using the email address or phone number you provided? defaults to “Friends.” We changed it to say “Everyone”. Boom signed up in two seconds as the admin of his page and we then added the remaining pages that we need to be admins of.

The “Who can look you up using the email address or phone number you provided?” option, prevents unwanted use of your email address by spammers. So when you are done adding yourself as admin you may want to go back in and turn that setting back to just “Friends.”

So Facebook wasn’t letting us ad ourselves as admin to their page because our settings didn’t allow someone to look us up by my email address. Facebook admin addition requires facebook to search for the new admin by email. If this option was set to just “Friends,” as was ours, then it nor anyone else can find you and therefore it could not add you.

So problem solved. So next time you have this issue remember this post, or shoot us a message and we will be glad to assist you.
