DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

starting . . .

chats in the dark . . . your on a dark net somewhere on the planet, scraping. yeah, it's scraping, when you can't read a graphic above 100MB and your flow is crawling and you would like to do business with people across the world but the whole thing is COMPLICATED.

it was 2003, and everyone, everywhere had a way of digitally transmitting money, BUT only within their own country; funds skitter, stumble and trip over their change when they approached the country borders. we started getting hot on digital gold, and that was how i got to this corner. chatting about money, which i loved to do, as much as i hated to do it at equal turns; because it was complicated. only gold seemed to translate across the world and that in and of itself was complicated. couldn't we have a something a techie could have generated on their own system, out of their own system 'strength' and effort that could be a trading vehicle, a funding tool, a something . . . because when you are in the middle, it is a squeeze, to ease a bit of funds out of an article here, a bit of code there, and then the cost to transfer and process and WHATEVER were brutal.

i paused in my ranting wildly on-line and really thought about it. i remembered doing a bit of work on the first systems created by the 'baby gates monster'-microsoft in 1985, in the wonder of the dos prompt start. it was a program which was teaching little bits of urban hot bits coloredness the cool skill of programming. we were taken out of the bitter somewhere before we were infected with high school foolishness, after we had just learned the skill of ducking for cover when a car back-fired or any 'such like' (like bullets), since 12 was such a bad age to die. algorithms. we had to learn the calculus on the cheat and low, so we could do the basic mathematical manipulations that would make the systems perform the way we needed them to, for eight weeks in the summer of 1986. twenty or so nubile, young brown children toiled, 'got educated' and created things that were adopted in the main system that would become microsoft windows. i suppose it was equal, knowledge that we would use for the rest of our lives (though it's specific life expectancy was limited), for the inclussion of our code into the great gates fold.

b. gates and company picked up the computers generously loaned to a dip-switch college in a town precisely the size of a large wad of spit after the program was completed. the code we created is still there to this very day (it's always a strange feeling to see the screensaver you coded from over TWENTY YEARS AGO in a 'brand new' iteration of windows).

i had to snap out of that bitter edge because it worked to no purpose except to cause the mind to churn in ways that were non productive, and exclaim gladness at the training - that i had used copiously over the years. and discussed the term further; a deliverable, tradeable, tri-layer algorithm. a bit of intrigue. a digital coin of a sort.

i laughed about this. there would HAVE to have an increasing difficulty factor as time went on, because of the systems behind the generation of them would evolve with extreme speed once people started to use them. IF people started to use them. i laughed about as i typed text in the 'dark'. it was early in the morning maybe two or three and just me and some folk in europe on the chat, germany, france and maybe a few from somewhere else. i said, this would be a good idea, if someone could fly with the concept, for i did not have the time and i had to find a way to be both PAID and over-qualified for SOMETHING.

i signed off and kept track of different types of things, funding tools and systems, some island in the middle of dip sh*t and nowhere created a something of interest, and i looked. i thought maybe that one over there, or that one over that way would be it; only to see each one of them flop miserably. 2005 and 2006 came and went and i got caught in a neteller / e-trade / e-gold loop which was exceedingly expensive. e-gold, pecunix and electrum became big on-line then the bubble burst with the foot of the usa on the issue of gold and tracking and thus i added my final comment.

(it had to be) anonymous - like cash. or pseudonymous, as it has become with the advent of technology.

this thought was one of many, probably precursored by someone else, maybe i typed it up on a collective prayer of people just trying to make it on the fringes on societies, typing their fingers raw to make it. the braids of dreams made digital coins a thing someone could fly with, is what i say.

that's my story and i'm going to stick with it.

. . . in continuance . . .

it is 2013 and the construct call bitcoin has stabilized at a rate over $75.00 (usd); it was still a marvel to me. the wonder of it all was that IF i was a part of its genesis, that curious hopeful light swelled within me bright that it was trully like the biblical mustard seed. it was that tiny, miniscule mote that fed by the wonder of someone else's manure and the rolling grapling, difficult soil, sustained by the endlessly beating sun and who knows how many minds, and the blessed sustainance of that rain that only he who saves can provide (to keep cool the many fingers which coded and tested, only to code and test again).

sometimes i feel that bitcoin is that thought, and other times not . . . but as i said before, it is the braids of dreams and motes of many things, as well as wishes of what we can finally do - without the interference upon the individual, so that we can freely and justly do what we need to do, that gives you that: 'finally, we CAN be free.'

that the craft of programmer is as one who is an artisan, a painter, a sculptor and the creator of the tools that allow us to DO the things that build THE WORLD. and that, my friends, is the next saga, and the basis of TRUE excitement and anticipation.
