DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Rift Iron Tombs Strategy Guide

The Iron Tomb is available to you once you reach level seventeen. This is located in the Defiant lands, Freemarch, although Guardians can also enter. This has a couple of quests you can get from inside. Nothing here is based on your faction, so you are able to do all of these regardless as to if you are on Defiant or Guardian.

  • Laid to Rest
  • Relics of the March Warden
  • Source of the Control
  • You Are Who They Call

Much like with our guide over Realm of the Fae, we are going to focus primarily on the bosses. There are a couple sections within Iron Tomb that can use some clarifying, though, so we will cover those as they come up as well.

One thing you may be interested to learn is that while this is also considered as a newbie dungeon, it does take a lot longer to complete than Realm of the Fae does. Along with this, it also has one less boss, and the dungeon itself is much bigger (despite being inside). So while it does take longer to finish, you will also get more rewards while you do it, making it even out overall.

Now then, let us get started! First off, we will look at the map, as shown below:

Boss One – Caor Ashstone

The first boss in Iron Tomb is Caor Ashstone. This is probably the hardest one as well, despite his location. As you are wandering through the tomb, you will see some chatter come from him. He wanders around the top level, back and forth as he talks. So what you need to be careful about is that when you go up the first set of stairs, you keep watch for him. There are other mobs up there as well, so you want to pull them without pulling Caor at the same time, so that you can clear the area before fighting him. Once you have a spot cleared out, you are ready to pull him!

Caor Ashstone only does two things that you need to worry about, although they can easily wipe the group. The first of these is that he sets a DoT on the tank and keeps stacking it. This will need to be cleansed. Along with this, he will also be using a skill called Jagged Wounds that will wipe the group if its stacks get too high.

The trick here is to keep heals on the tank (as well as keep cleansing) while everyone else burns down the boss as soon as possible. The quicker he dies, the less problems you will have! In a sense, this battle can be seen as being a DPS race.

Boss Two – The Three Kings

This fight takes place against three different mini bosses, known collectively as The Three Kings. You start out by fighting them one by one in the following order:

  • Humbart the Bold – this is a damage dealer, melee. He has a frontal cleave and knocks players back so tank him up against the statue
  • Derribec the Magnus – this is a ranged damage dealer
  • Laric the Ascendant – this is a healer, Cleric type. He will heal himself, so you will need to cancel the healing as often as possible. It is possible to kill him by damaging him through his heals, but canceling it will speed up this fight considerably

Looking at them in the image above, they go middle, right and then left. After all three of these are down, back up a little bit because they will all spawn again in the middle of their area and then you must take on all three at once.

When you are fighting all three mobs at once, you can either AoE them (preferable) or use single target skills. If going with single target skills, go for Laric the Ascendant first, since he will slow down the battle if he is alive by constantly healing the others. After this goes Derribec the Magus, because he is a ranged damage dealer and is the most deadly. Last is Humbart the Bold, since he is the final target.

When fighting Humbart, nobody but the tank should be in front of the mob. His cleave will hit anyone that is too close, so if anyone is a melee damage dealer they should be standing behind him.

Boss Three – Ragnoth the Despoiler

Ragnoth the Despoiler is the final boss in Iron Tomb, although he really is not that bad. He does have a frontal cleave, so you want to be sure no melee players are in front of him, and that the tank faces him away from the group.

Other than that, there is only one more thing to worry about; a skill called Flame of Ragnoth. This is an AoE that places a DoT on everyone that (unless you are very well geared) is going to kill you. There is a way to avoid this, though! Before the cast of Flame of Ragnoth goes off, Eliam's Ghost will appear, a friendly NPC. His location will be random, but he will be near one of the pillars in the area. Run to him as soon as possible and you will see a white light. As long as you are in the light, Flame of Ragnoth will not do anything to you! Yes, it really is that easy!
