DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

AFK players in Instant Adventures can be a real burden on their group, due to how the system works. When this gets out of control, it causes real complications for everyone involved. Luckily, there's something you can do to help fix the problem!

Instant Adventures are designed to scale to their group size. While it doesn't always work effectively (in that a group of 5 doesn't necessarily scale up to the same difficulty as there would be with only 3), it helps at least a little. And this is where AFK players come in.

When a player is AFK during the adventure, it still does the scaling. The effect of this is more difficulty without increasing the number of players taking part. In other words, while 5 players may be able to handle 20 mobs in 5 minutes, they might not be able to handle 40 in the same 5 minutes.

This is compounded even further when a majority of the group is AFK. The only real way to combat it, as players, is to vote-kick the players out, however it's getting to where there are groups where the majority are away, eliminating the ability to kick them. Furthermore, leaving and re-joining gives the same group most of the time.

Luckily, there is a fix, at least for the most part. While it's not the most effective, it's definitely better than nothing! The method? Utilize the mentoring system. With the introduction of Instant Adventures for the lower level zones, the mentoring system allows you to better choose where you want to be at. As an example, if it's Ember Isle with all the AFK players, mentor yourself to level 10 or 20 and then join. This will put you in a lower level zone! Note: this only works for higher leveled players. If you're unable to see the lower level zones even after mentoring down, you may need to travel to them (for example, if you're Defiant, head to Freemarch). When you're in the zone, you will see not only “random,” but also the zone itself for a direct queue!

The bad part about doing this is that you will more than likely not be able to join the IA in the zone you want. If you are trying to farm sourcestones or something like that, being on one of the proper zones is important. On the other hand, if you are just trying to knock out your daily or level up, the zone you end up with is not that important. Just keep in mind that when you are lowered in level, your stats will also take a hit at the same time. If you are not careful, you can still easily over-pull mobs and get yourself (and anyone else that is around you) killed.
