DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Writer, Article: 0-99

  • Antdix, Owning a boat: 75 - Good information from a boat owners perspective. No images.
  • Ben, Getting started with peercoin on mac os x: 85 - Good information and good use of images.
  • Cryptopi, Sundiata notes: 15 - This is not an article, this is some ones rough notes in point form from a class. I looked at many other articles from this writer to get a better opinion, and found this representative of most of webpages. No images, not categorized, no proper header, not in sentences and paragraphs but just a page of bullet points.
  • Dalamar96, Pinhole camera: 60 - No images, very short page at 289 words. Has not been worked on in a month. This is a topic that could be well fleshed out.
  • Devguy, Add proposal: 15 - No images, only 369 words on this page. I checked a second page at random by this writer and it was similar. Information is more like the writer wondering out loud.
  • Imatt1990, Why do we ask for advice: 45 - Rambling, unprofessional writing style, no images
  • Jackjack, Pywallet: 90 - JackJack ports all traffic and links regarding pywallet to this page, and his free software has saved many people from completely losing their wallet. This is the only article JackJack has on Devtome and we are privileged that he has chosen to use Devtome as his landing page for pywallet.
  • Jessiewaterfield, Critical review on cats: 60 - Short, no images.
  • Jungle_dave, Reasons behind the 2013 protests in brazil: 15 - No properly formatted title or header. Incorrect and unfixed page formatting. No images, not categorized.
  • Prdkojistic, Radio receivers: 30 - Grammatical errors, generally 2 sentence paragraphs and bullet points.
  • Shinybitcoins, Ginopolis: 30 - Articles need to be more polished, capture and maintain the readers attention. The ones I read needed work to be publication quality.
  • Theuntitled, Tearaway: 35 - I'm not a big fan of articles written from a first person perspective, it seems unprofessional and just an effort to get a few words down

Scoring has been done based on page and article formatting. Grammar, sentence and paragraph structuring, along with the number of bullet points is the next thing looked at. Items noticed or looked for include a proper opening and introduction to the main body of text, a clear coherent flow of information, and the depth of the information upon the page. If the page being scored is currently being worked on, the rating will tend to be based off of two other articles picked at random. The score is not affected by links or references as this skews the scoring away from original creative work such as JackJack's “pywallet” article that are stand alone web pages. Scoring based on references at the suggested 30% of total score also heavily skews the results from non fiction to fiction, and has not been incorporated into the ratings on this page. Where as non fiction delivers information, as long as it isn't opinion, fiction mainly is to entertain or just an exercise that a writer does. The scoring on this page rewarded those who had put out hard earned information or comprehensive pages on a topic. Scoring does not reflect other articles by the writer, that is not to say that their other work wasn't looked at, but that a writers score was based upon the random page provided by the script. The point for writers, or anyone in any field to remember, is that any one is only as good as their worst piece of work. The goal on Devtome is to provide an opportunity for people to earn currency in exchange for their creative efforts, yet they must be graded against other writers so as to provide incentive for good writers, and for writers who have specialized knowledge, and also to ensure that writers who aren't meeting the standards do not skew the share distribution within devcoin between developers and writers. Writers are needed for the devcoin project to maintain momentum and interest, but to maintain that velocity and integrity, rating is essential to ensure that writers who wish to continue writing on devtome raise their standards and look at their work critically.
