DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Phone and Internet Companies

The competition is fierce. They call you, bug you, nag you to go with them, but your stuck on a fence. One has features that the other doesn't , but the other has better rates.

What do you do?

Well, what I have done as of today, is, throw one out the door for many reasons, and keep the other for a chance in my home.

I was with Bell aliant, only had internet with them, and the deal was - Up to 7Mbps download and Up to 1Mbps upload. All was fine at first, getting great speeds for ADSL, and paying a great price for it. As time passed, the speeds decreased, and the reliability decreased as well. After about a month, I called them as I had had enough. They told me that there was something going on inside the line that was “Defiantly” causing speed drops and service outages. They called a technician in and he looked it over. Found nothing. So I called them back–they told me that I would be reimbursed for the speed loss that I had been paying for.

All was fine..until I called them back when the technician never arrived. They told me that I was getting what I was paying for. UP TO 7 Mbps. I was getting 3Mbps but I was paying anywhere from 3-7Mbps. So, now it had gone from getting credit on my account for speed loss, to “I have been paying for this slow speed all along”.

I had had enough. I called up the cable provider whom I was getting digital cable off of, and their lowest package they offered with the bundle was 20Mbps down and 10Mbps up. For lower than the price of the other provider. Boy, did I feel like an idiot. But I guess you live and you learn,

We got the new internet and we left the old provider to rot. We are now getting 20Mbps download and 10Mbps upload–just as we were promised.

The moral of this story is simple.

ALWAYS research your options and resources before jumping onto one that may leave you stranded. You may think you are getting a better deal with Company A, but in reality Company B will do you better in the long haul.

Always be diligent in your decisions, and always watch out for cheaters and liars.
