DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

My Childhood Disney Trip

One extremely exciting event that happened over the weekend was that I tried to go see the National Museum of History in New York City. As I was not qualified to go on the Disney math field trip, my parents treated me to a trip to New York City. My parents and I were in the hotel room on a Saturday afternoon and the current plan for the remaining daylight hours was for the entire family to go to the National Museum of History. My father and I are avid rock hounds. Excited, my parents and I walked to the subway. My olfactory nerves were immediately assaulted by pungent smells as we descended down the entrance. The first thing I saw was the bright headlights of a train as it passed through the station. Immediately after that, I felt a massive gust of cool wind pushed forward by the train. We promptly bought a card and caught the next train headed for the museum area. Everyone in my family brought water with them. As always, I tried to stand up without holding on to the bars while it was taking off to see if I would keel over or not. I felt the acceleration of the train in my feet as we took off. Much to my relief, I did not fall over. I noticed the large variety of people on the train, ranging from people in expensive suits to people whose clothes were ratty and falling apart at the seams (literally). We sat down for the next five or so minutes while the subway zoomed through New York City. Horrified and worried, we saw the sign for the museum rush by as we careened past it. It quickly dawned upon us that we had gotten on the wrong subway train! We made plans to exit the subway at the next stop. We knew that we were short on time and panic set in.

In line with the rest of the journey, that did not happen either, as the train we were on was an express and it did not stop for a long time! Unfortunately, we were egotistical enough to think that the trip would be straightforward hence we were void of maps of any kind. We were determined that we get there via subway instead of using a taxi. Much to our dismay, we did not recognize our surroundings when we disembarked from the subway. Panicked beyond logical thought, mad as a hatter, we immediately began to ask people around us where we were and which train would actually take us to the museum. We must have seemed like the dumbest people in the entire city at that time! Everyone shook his or her head at us in dismay but yet they told us the right train number.

We wandered back into the subway and used our cards to get on the correct train. Jovially, we jumped up and down with glee when it stopped in front of the museum. There was just one thing that was wrong. We realized that the museum was only open for another hour so it was not even worth going inside because of the daily fee they charge. All of our tomfoolery had taken too long. My mom was devastated that we could not do everything she had planned for the day. Nothing prepared her for this devastating moment. Then we hailed a taxi and went back to the hotel to make plans for tomorrow which certainly was going to include the Museum of Natural History.
