DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Metazilla's Lucid Dream Journal

Here I will share stories of some of my adventures in lucid dreaming, and hopefully outline some techniques that will help people lucid dream themselves.

My first FILD

Today I tried a technique I heard on reddit called Finger Induced Lucid Dream. The technique is basically to wake up after six hours (so you are still tired, in the lucid dreaming community, this is known as Wake Back to Bed or WBTB), then move your fingers like you are pressing the keys on a piano, but without playing a sound. What I figured out is that you sort of “pulse” the muscles in your fingers as rapidly as possible, without moving them, as soon as you wake up. The story will explain it better:

I got home around 2:20, I was really tired and decided to try and take a nap. I laid around unable to fall asleep until at least 3:05 (I opened my eyes and looked at the clock). The technique normally calls for WBTB, but I had figured I was tired enough that it might work. I had tried moving my fingers up and down a bit, which didn't really work, and I didn't really remember the technique. What eventually worked this: I had managed to fall asleep finally, and had a really brief dream, and was disappointed that I was conscious again. I realized that I was still really tired, and remembered to try the technique. I sort of pulsed my fingers without moving them, and felt a sort of “energy” move through my body, sort of like the speed/frequency of the pulsing of my fingers. I realized that I had been doing it too slow before, and started doing it as fast as I could. Instantly an incredibly intense rush of energy shot up from my fingers through my whole body. My vision goes black, and I heard this really cool (but intense) sound, kind of like a CHHHHHOOOooo CHHHHHHOOOoo CHHHHOOoo - not like a train choo-choo, but more like the sound of like air rushing through a metal pipe, and it was going up and down in pitch in a really regular manner.

This was cool and all, and I was also a little overwhelmed, but I wanted to keep going. At this point, I could barely even feel my fingers (and the rest of body felt completely gone), and could barely summon the energy to keep them pulsing. With the remains of the last pulse, I started seeing these sort of purpley-blue hazy shapes in the center of my vision, and it looked like they were mixing to try and form images. I felt myself starting to fall out of it, and struggled to find control of my fingers for one last pulse. I gave as fast of a pulse as I could manage, and instantly felt the energy return, and heard the sound again. The hazy shapes started moving faster, and I saw them form the shape of a house. This house was spinning around in 3D, still translucent and purple and blue, but spinning closer and closer to me. Suddenly, the sound was gone, and the dream started.

I saw a small, square, and brightly colored pixel art screen in the center of my vision. I was standing in front of this beautiful pixel art house, or at least I realized I was playing a game that involved the house. For now my vision was just panning around the scene, and I wondered when I would be able to play. Then, a bush in front of the house opened it's mouth (it didn't have eyes, just a cartoon-y mouth, with a white row of teeth) and said something to me. After that, the mailbox said something to me in the same way. And then I saw a purple lumpy alien (like LSP from adventure time) in the driveway, and he turned around and said something to me. Then, three choices popped up on the screen for me to take. I couldn't really read what they said though, and when I tried to “look closer”, my vision started to cross, and I thought “WTF, I can go cross-eyed in a dream?” … then I woke up. I don't remember exactly what the things were saying to me, but it was both welcoming and inquisitive, and every sentence was sort of like, “Hey I'm the mailbox, what are you doing here… NOOB?” Ending in a capitalized NOOB (which is how they referred to me).

So all in all, it was pretty short and meaningless dream, but the intensity of the entrance, and the incredible vividness and lucidity of the dream (it was all beautifully drawn pixel art!) made it one of my coolest lucid dreams yet. I highly recommend everyone interested in lucid dreaming try the FILD technique.
