DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

This essay was inspired by James Altucher's book Choose Yourself and by a scene in the movie Wallstreet money never sleeps.

The scene

In that scene young individuals are described as the NINJA generation. No income, No job, No assets. In my essay I extend upon this idea and have figured out partially what is to blame. I have identified that lack of self love is to blame for the condition which produced the NINJA generation and I am convinced the only way to change these conditions is through self love.

The conditions

Bitcoin is where the love is. The problem with the younger generation is the lack self love. We don't invest enough in ourselves. By investing in ourselves I mean it in the way that the book Choose Yourself describes, in that younger generations have to stop looking to older generations to save them. In fact I would take it a step further and say old in general wont save new, whether it's old ideas, old money, old institutions, old governments, in general older is less adaptable to change and that just isn't going to work in an ever changing environment.

Concepts like be your own bank, choose yourself, own yourself, all of these concepts require self love. The majority of people young and old continue to believe that governments can protect them and those who lose faith in governments believe in other institutions like the corporation, or the church, or God. I'm not advocating atheism, but I am saying that God helps those who help themselves and if you do whats best for you then you'll be rewarded with the good life right here right now.

Institutions try to make people depend on them to remain relevant. Corporations do this by offering addictive products, by advertising, and when all that fails by tactics such as Apple with Itunes locking people into certain formats, or Microsoft bundling Internet Explorer inside the Windows operating system, or certain companies using lobbyists to create laws to try and shame consumer behavior. All of this is about control, they do not do this to take care of you or look out for you.

Governments are also about control. Welfare is a good thing for instance, but the government typically does not reward individuals who are trying to escape from their conditions, it typically punishes those individuals with less benefits while the individuals who seek to maximize their condition may receive more benefits. There is very limited investment by the government in people and when there is it's often in ways which promote even greater dependency. For instance the government invests a lot of money into security and law enforcement to fight crimes but hardly any money into college. The government invests a lot of money and resources trying to control people rather than trying to protect people. If one looks at the history of governments then you can see that while governments usually form with a noble purpose and that the Republic is definitely better than the monarchy which came before it, and while democracy is definitely better than feudalism, the main reason people needed governments at all were to protect life, liberty and property. At this point many of us don't feel protected, but this does not stop taxes from rising.

I do believe that in the case of governments many employees seek to do the right thing, are good people, perhaps even some of the best people in a society work for the governments. The problem is even the best people are easily corrupted once they join the system. The system of government is set up in such a way that no human being fan function within that system without being corrupted by it. For this reason any institution which grows large enough will become corrupt over time from within no matter if it's a government, a church, or a corporation.

If we take a look at the catholic church it too is mostly built up of people who entered into it wanting to do good. Some of the most compassionate people in the world, some of the most pious individuals, they become priests to benefit mankind. But the history of the church is also a history of corruption from the top down. If you look at the catholic church and learn the history and behavior of some of the Popes throughout history, you will find that the church tortured people just as governments do today, that the church suppressed free speech just as governments do today, that the church had no respect at all for human rights and had a mind control agenda to sanitize the thoughts of the human population. Today there are individuals within the church being accused of pedophilia, and I will not go into this any deeper but to say that any large institution made up of humans eventually will become corrupt because it only takes one.

If we take a look at corporations then we can see that once again corporations are made up of people, many who entered it out of love for their families, or love of the industry and of the business, and many genuinely want to see their business be successful so that they can do whats best for their families. If we look at what actually happens, the corporations by design are about nothing more than maximizing profits. The corporation is a psychopath, and while not all individuals within it are going to be psychopaths, there will always be some within any institution who are and corporations which have psychopaths at the top will be corrupt, will not care about human beings, families or anything other than maximizing profits for shareholders because that is all the law requires.

The resolutions

Once we figure out that corporations aren't looking out for us, that the governments aren't looking out for us, that the church isn't looking out for us, that even our own families aren't looking out for us, then the conclusion is that we must start by looking out for ourselves. After we do that, then we can look out for our neighbors and those among us who look out for us and others. New institutions will have to be formed and these institutions will have to function in cyberspace. While these institutions will be corrupted as well, a borderless cyberspace based institution is a bit harder to corrupt than when it's one individual in one location to be targeted by many individuals from many locations. The equation changes to many individuals in many locations who would have to be targeted to corrupt the system.

Bitcoin Is an example of this on the financial level. The resolution to having no job is entrepreneurship. The problem of no job is only solved by creating a job. If you wait for someone to get fired, or for someone to give you a job, with the population growth rate growing faster than the job growth rate can ever keep up, you can see this isn't going to work too well. The only way it works is if first money is generated, and Bitcoin generates money. Then with that money you must invest in yourself, starting by investing in whatever you need to protect yourself, provide shelter, and protect your assets.

Just investing in yourself creates jobs for others. Protecting your assets is work, and it's enough work that you may have to pay others to do it. At the same time investing in the next generation of technology creates jobs for the next generation of people, meaning Bitcoin should not be the end but the beginning of a new self investment based economy where individuals create new industries, new jobs, new cultures, and reject whatever old traditions, habits, moral systems, or institutions which aren't working and have not worked historically.

If you think the financial institutions we have aren't working to distribute the money fairly then you should have the liberty to compete with it and start new better financial institutions. If anything we have which is old isn't working as well as it could and you can see a better way, you should have the opportunity to try and build something better as that is what creates jobs. Since so much in our society is broken, there should be jobs everywhere just to fix or create new institutions and industries. That investment cannot come from old money because the old money has a stake in the old way of doing things whether it's working or not, for this the new money for the new generations must invest in itself without expectation of any bailout, any support, any help from any source except themselves and their own community.
