DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

The hypergrid is an extension to OpenSimulator that allows links between different grids of regions.

Each grid has services that handle the various content resources associated with that grid's avatars and other models; the hypergrid provides a convention, protocol, or API (application program interface) allowing one grid to access the resource services of another grid so that visitors from other grids, carrying items from those other grids, to visit. Each user's avatar remains stored at, and served by, its home grid, but it can nonetheless visit other grids. The hypergrid is basically the duct tape or glue that allows webs of virtual worlds to be woven using OpenSimulator.

Like OpenSimulator itself, the hypergrid is implemented in free open source code; it is nowadays in fact normally included with OpenSimulator itself.

The hypergrid allows individual OpenSimulator instances to add “neighbors” to their local map, making the choice of neighbors for a region no longer dependent upon the co-ordinate system of a “grid” or regions. This can make virtual worlds more interesting and varied; the map that you see in one region may be completely different from the map that you see after you teleport via an hyperlink. Administrators of OpenSimulator instances are free to define what other regions they want visitors to see on their map.
