DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Guild Wars 2 World vs World Siegerazer and Siegecrusher Review

In the world vs world system within Guild Wars 2, there are a couple of NPCs that help players take over their nearest towers. These NPCs go by the name of Siegerazer and Siegecrusher, and they can easily be the difference between being able to take towers in a small group and not being able to. Through this article we are going to be looking at what these NPCs are, how they work and what they do.

Where They Are

Both Siegerazer and Siegecrusher are located at the entrance zone to each team's base in the world vs world zones. They are easily seen because they have commander icons, although you will only be able to see them on the mini map and not the large one. Along with this, they are not “tracked” the same way as the player commander icons, so if you are not within a close range of these NPCs you will not see them on your mini map either.

How to Start Them

When you are near either of the NPCs, you will see two new quests pop up on the right side of your screen. One of these will say “Report to Commander Siegecrusher” and the other will say “Report to Commander Siegerazer.” These are completed by getting ten players within the range of one or both NPCs. It is worth noting that if players move right in the middle of both NPCs, both can be activated at the same time. An alternative is to simply go from one to the other after it is activated.

How They Work

When one of the NPCs are activated, they will start a one minute timer and will give each player a few supplies unless they already have some. After this, they will take off towards their respective tower. There, players will need to clear the area of enemies and the NPC will drop some almost completed siege weapons. Complete the siege weapons and help the commander take over the tower! Note that the building of these siege weapons take almost no supplies so they are quite easy to do as long as you have a few players with you, but you will need around 5 players to actually finish this part. Sometimes it can be tough to keep people together once the NPCs start to run off, so keep this in mind. Luckily, if you are already maxed out on supplies, you should already be good to go, even with just one or two players. And the cost savings of getting all the free siege weaponry makes this little event well worth starting up. Even if you do have plenty of players available, it can usually bring some value still due to the free weapons.

Why This Matters

When you have a small group, the commanders help by letting you focus more on taking the tower than you are on placing and building siege weapons. With smaller groups, there are just not enough supplies to build up everything you might want. Since the commander's items are already pretty much built up already, it means a couple people can finish them all off without any problems at all. Not to mention you get some assistance fighting any enemies there may be, as well as some supplies to help out! Along with this, the siege weapons are placed by the NPC absolutely free, so you do not need to rely on other players (or yourself) bringing siege weapons out with you. You can, of course, still add some of your own weapons just to help out with making the take over that much faster, but it is not a necessity, as the ones that are supplied will be more than enough to handle a siege attempt.

The Limitations

These NPCs are only good for the closest two towers, so if you already have those taken they will not help at all. They are also pretty weak, so you can not expect to run in to an enemy zerg and allow the NPC to help kill everyone; it is simply not going to happen. While the NPCs are somewhat strong, they are not that strong. With that said, when you are playing late at night or there are just not that many people on, these can be an awesome asset to have. I can not count how many times we have been able to take over some towers with their help that we otherwise would not have been able to do!
