DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Guild Wars 2 Daily Quests Overview

Introduction

One of the goals within Guild Wars 2 should be to knock out the daily quests each day. This also includes the monthly ones, although the two work together enough that usually if you are keeping on top of the daily quests you should knock out the monthly ones at the same time. This article is to help explain a bit about the daily quests and what they entail, so as to better understand what is going on with them and why they matter.

The Separation

First off, the daily quests are separated in to two separate groups: PvE and sPvP. Note that for the purposes of daily and monthly quests, World vs. World combat is considered as PvE instead of PvP; in fact, you can knock out the entire PvE daily and monthly just within the different battlegrounds. It is important to distinguish between these two, though, because it means if you really want to maximize your earnings you will need to be taking part in sPvP, as well as other areas of the game. You can get along with just doing one or the other, though you will get more bonuses by knocking out both.

PvE Daily

PvE quests revolve around things like capturing things in World vs. World (keeps, towers and camps), as well as killing both enemy players and NPC's. While its name is “PvE,” it really encompasses the majority of PvP as well. This can bring up some confusion, so just think of it as being anything that is not in the structured PvP realm. It also covers things that are not really related to one area or another, such as crafting, dodging or taking part in events. For the most part, you should be knocking these out while you go about your daily playing, although from time to time you may have to take part in something a little different in order to get credit for what you need (for example, the dodging part is sometimes something I will have to do separately).

As for the rewards, they include:

  • 5% experience towards the next level
  • A Mystic Coin
  • A Jug of Liquid Karma
  • A Laurel
  • Gold, whose amount depends on your current level as such:
    • 1-3: 50 Copper
    • 4-10: 1 Silver
    • 11-20: 1 Silver, 75 Copper
    • 21-30: 2 Silver, 25 Copper
    • 31-40: 3 Silver
    • 41-50: 3 Silver, 50 Copper
    • 51-60: 4 Silver
    • 61-70: 4 Silver, 75 Copper
    • 71-80: 5 Silver

On top of these guaranteed rewards, you also have the chance of getting a bonus item, which can include gold and one of the following:

  • Transmutation Stone
  • Trading Post Express
  • Merchant Express
  • Black Lion Salvage Kit
  • Instant Repair Canister
  • Bank Access Express
  • Mystic Forge Stone
  • Transmutation Crystal
  • Black Lion Chest Key
  • Revive Orb
  • Box of Fun

It is worth noting that out of the above items, they are all pretty rare. The highest chance is with the Transmutation Stone, which still only nets about a 5% chance to get one. The rest are even more rare than this.

PvP Daily

With the PvP daily, everything revolves around the structured PvP system. The objectives here are the same from day to day, dealing with things like killing a certain number of players and playing a certain number of matches. As for the PvP daily rewards, they include:

  • PvP Glory Booster
  • Laurel
  • One of the following:
    • Arcane Orb
    • Arcane Crystal
    • Arcane Sliver
    • PvP Arcane Converter

Evaluation

If you only have time to do either one of the dailies or the other, always go for the PvE ones. While they take longer, you can probably see that they give significantly better rewards. If you are pressed for time you can knock out the PvP daily to get the laurel, but it is important to note that you can only get one laurel per day, regardless as to if you do both quests or not. Even so, the PvE quest gives gold, experience, a coin and more, making it the much more beneficial choice. I would argue that the only purpose of even having the PvP quest now is for the laurel, as the rest of the benefits just do not have that much value.

If you do not want to directly go for the daily quests (focusing solely on them while you play), a great method for ensuring you can continue along with your own play style while still getting them done is to play like normal and then look at what is left to complete the dailies a couple hours before they reset. This lets you play the way you want while you are out and about, while allowing you to quickly knock out any missing objectives just before the reset. It is an awesome method because through normal play you can usually get the dailies done, so in most cases you will not be forced to go out of your way to complete them.
