DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Keystone Species

What are the keystone plants and their adaptations to live there?

There are many plants that live in the grassland area. Some plants that live in the area is the purple needlegrass plant, wild oats, foxtail, rye grass,

and buffalo grass. Those are some of the plants that live in the grassland area. There are most types of grasses in this area because the area is only able

to support grass.

What are the keystone animals and their adaptations to live there?

There are different grassland environment around the world. For example the African grasslands, biome ,the keystone animals are lions, antelope, zebra and

water buffalo. Many animals are animals that graze or animals that feed on the one who does graze. In the North American grassland biome there deer, bison,

and prairie dogs.

Climate

The grasslands are a biome which usually have warm temperatures. There is not much rainfall, but some may occur. Summers are warm, while winters are cold.

Every once in a while, there is even snow.

Average precipitation?

The average precipitation is between 250 and 900 mm (9.8 and 35 in) per year

Average Temperature?

The average temperature is between -20°C and 30°C

Suggest supplies/gear that tourists should bring to make their trip more enjoyable

Suggested supplies/gear depend on the time of year. If visiting a grassland make sure to pack right.

Summer

  • Shorts
  • Short socks
  • Short sleeve shirts
  • Sneakers
  • Raincoat

Winter

  • Pants
  • Long sleeve shirts
  • Sneakers
  • Sweatshirt(s)
  • Raincoat
  • Socks
  • Gloves (optional)

Grasslands Abiotic Factors

Sun, soil, water, and the temperature are the grasslands abiotic factors.

Labeled Map/ Biomes Place On Earth - Moses

Why Are Grasslands Globally Important?

It fits the animals needs and has what it wants. The organism is most comfortable there and probably wouldn’t be able to survive in a different biome. For example, a lion would not be able to survive in a Tundra setting. The only way to be able to ever live in there was to adapt to the area, like animals did in many biomes in the world. Biomes include the food, climate, shelter, and resources to let the organism live its life to its fullest. Without one biome, another biome would be affected. Say the grasslands were not here. It would take a big chunk out of the biosphere. We learned this a couple weeks ago. First of all, many species would go extinct. Second of all, if the producers were not there, the consumers and decomposers would die, or at least have an extremely tough time surviving. The grasslands biome contains many plants. It is almost like an enlarged producer. If the grasslands biome disappeared, the other biomes would have trouble helping its own species. If we didn’t have grasslands then what would cover the areas where grasslands are found. The grasslands have grown to fit the area where they are found. A tundra cannot go into the middle of the United States where grasslands are found. That is one example of how grasslands are important to the world.

Cool Things Found Here In The Grasslands

In this biome, there are many animals you could see, many plants you have probably never seen, and a climate that is just perfect if you like the outdoors. The grasslands are a fascinating biome, and there are many hills there, as well as the Great Plains.

Fear Of Climate Change For Grasslands

www.fredthompsonsamerica.com_wp-content_uploads_2013_10_glowarm.jpg

There is a fear of climate change for grasslands. In fact, that reason is because of global warming. In the past 6000 years, the earth’s temperature has risen by about 11 degrees! Global warming causes fear to the grasslands biome because if global warming does occur, the grasslands could be transformed into very dry areas, such as deserts. If global warming occurs, many animals would lose their habitat, and become extinct, which would hurt our biosphere.

The Six Types Of Grasslands

environment11.pbworks.com_f_savannas.jpg

  • As seen in the picture above, a tropical grassland.
  1. Tropical and subtropical grasslands
  2. Temperate grasslands
  3. Flooded grasslands
  4. Montane grasslands
  5. Tundra grasslands
  6. Desert and xeric grassland

Locations Of Grasslands

images.nationalgeographic.com_wpf_media-live_photos_000_063_cache_map-world-grasslands_6366_600x450.jpg

  1. Grasslands are most commonly located in areas with high temperatures and low precipitation.
  2. Grasslands cover more than 14 million square miles of grasslands around the world.
  3. Grasslands are found in every continent except for Antarctica.
