DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Gold Medal in Elocution Contest

I am 10 years old. I am in Grade 4. I was an honor student in my previous school from Nursery, Prep up to Grade 1. I transferred to my present school when I was in Grade 2.

On my first day in my present school, our teacher started writing in the blackboard in script. I looked around and was surprised to see my classmates copying in script! I could already read letters and words in script at that time but we were not yet taught in my previous school how to write them. My present classmates learned scriptwriting gradually. They started writing in circles since they were in Prep. They had plenty of time to practice. But for me I had to do it all at once. At the same time, I had to adjust to a new school, new teachers and new classmates. I had difficulty finishing my notes in the classroom so I had to spend my break time and playtime copying notes from my classmates. During seat works and quizzes, even if I knew the answers, I got low scores because I was not able to finish them. For long tests and quarterly exams, I had to go to school on Saturdays to finish them. Sometimes, my fingers, hand, and wrist would ache. I had to rest them first before proceeding to write again. I had little time left for play. The comments of some of my classmates made me sad. They called me “slow poke” and all that stuff. My parents told me not to mind them and encouraged me to do my best, and so I did. At the end of the school year, I passed all my subjects but didn't make it to the honor roll.

One summer vacation (1992), my parents enrolled me in a mind technique seminar for Children. I enjoyed it very much! The speaker told us interesting and exciting stories! She taught us “tricks” on how to improve ourselves and become better and better! I was so happy to receive my workbook, a pin, a prize and a bag full of new “tricks” like the 3 Fingers Technique, MOM, Glove Anaesthesia and many others. I leveled often and used mind Method Techniques whenever I needed to.

When school opened, what I visualized came true. The teachers and classmates assigned in my section were the good ones & nice ones. The bullies went to other sections. My writing improved. My speed improved. I felt better & better. At the end of the quarter I was overjoyed to see my name in the principal's list! I have been in the principal's list since then.

I still get low scores sometimes because whenever the teachers teach boring things, I stop listening and think of something else more interesting. Sometimes I also prefer to play than to study. But what I noticed is that when I do decide to concentrate, I can memorize things more easily at a shorter time than before by using the 3 Fingers Technique.

One time, we had an Elocution Contest, the Battle of the Champions. The piece was given to us one week before the contest. When I received it on Tuesday, I was not able to start memorizing it because I had unit tests on Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday after classes, I only had time to read it, get the meaning of the difficult words from the dictionary and practice the proper diction and expression. Friday after school up to Sunday morning we had a Boy Scouts Camping. Some contestants did not join the camping; others were not Boy Scouts. They had the whole weekend to memorize the piece and practice for the contest. I did not want to miss the camping because I was one of the boy leaders and I love Boy Scouting. I planned to start memorizing Sunday afternoon. When I arrived home Sunday afternoon, I was so tired and sleepy. I went straight to bed. When Monday morning came, two days before the contest, I didn't memorize a thing. My parents advised me to back out. I didn't want to back out because my classmates and I wanted our class to win and it was too late to get a replacement. The piece was “The Charge of the Light Brigade”. It has 6 stanzas, with 5 lines per stanza. I don't know why they gave us a grade 6 piece. Using the 3 Fingers Technique, I was able to master than Grade 6 piece in a few hours (Monday evening and Tuesday evening). Before the contest and while waiting for my turn during the contest, I felt nervous, so I took deep breaths, exhaled, and visualized the numbers 3-2-1. Each time I did it, I felt better and better. When my turn came, the feeling of nervousness was not there anymore. I just remembered doing my best. The mind “Tricks” work! I became the champion and received a gold medal! Wildan Cabactulan
