DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

  • Dhalmel Neck
    • Term, used to refer to Elezen / Elvaan due to their elongated necks. This is a holdover from Final Fantasy XI because Dhalmels don’t currently exist in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, but Dhalmels were giraffe like creatures with excessively long necks.

  • DKP
    • Dragon Kill Points
      • Term, a fairly elaborate and often complex method of attributing points to players in a Free Company, Linkshell or Guild based on their actions and contributions in sanctioned events that allows said players to use those points to ‘buy’ gear by ‘spending’ their accumulated points in order for the right to lot or roll on a piece of treasure that drops. Due to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s small group size (8) and the general random drops that are attributed DKP works very poorly since there is little competition for drops and so, no need to make the competition more fair.
        • Example Sentence: “I got 100 DKP for helping out last night in Titan Extreme Mode, but I almost got -50 DKP for standing in too many eruptions at Ifrit Extreme Mode last night….”

This is referred to as End Game / Endgame / EG and is where the bulk of the player base enjoys the new content and struggle against the most difficult encounters in the game. End Game is where many people believe the true game begins as it encompasses everything that the game is, representing the epitome of what the developers have to offer the players. See: Final Fantasy XIV - Raids and Final Fantasy XIV - Crystal Tower and Final Fantasy XIV - The Binding Coil of Bahamut

F

  • Faceroll
    • Term, used to describe or rather depict an action of great ease and simplicity to the point of rolling a person’s face on the keyboard to accomplish the same task. That is to say, rolling a person’s face on the keyboard thus the term “Faceroll” is to stand for a lack of skill or finesse, that pressing any random assortment of buttons will do exactly the same as skillfully and properly using select abilities and pressing keys at the right time in the right sequence. It’s similar to the term “buttonmasher” from fighting games, where people would press any random number of buttons and then in doing so would randomly trigger an ability, except in this context it’s referring to an exceedingly easy encounter (sometimes derogatorily but sometimes not, it all depends on the context!) or a job that is incredibly easy to play. BRD and BLM are often considered “faceroll jobs” because BRD rarely uses more than a few buttons when properly macro’d and BLM has one of the simplest if not the simplest damage rotation in the game.
      • Example Sentence: “BRD is so easy to play I can faceroll it all day and still hit top DPS!”
  • Fail / Failboat / Failsauce
    • Failure, Bad Playing / Player
      • Term, used to denote a player or situation that went horribly wrong, can be used comically but also seriously and derisively depending on context. Often refers to players who aren’t good at their jobs or groups that can’t get simple basics down properly and continually die.
        • Example Sentence: “That last DF Garuda Extreme group was such a failboat, the tanks kept provoking the wrong sister and nobody attacked the plumes so by the time Garuda Aerial Blasted the pillars were dead and we were one-shotted.”
  • Fanboy
    • Term, used to denote a person or persons who are so in love or such fans over a product, class, person, company or game (anything really) that they gloss over the glaring issues and simply claim that their “thing” is still the best without any logical basis behind it.
      • Example Sentence: “Rupert is such a Shinra fanboy, no matter what we keep pointing out to him he keeps saying it’s the best company ever, what an idiot.”
  • Farm
    • Term, used to denote the process of constantly killing the same types of mobs in order to collect their drops usually to sell them for gil or use them for crafting but in some cases they are needed in order to be able to access some later content or complete a quest.
      • Example Sentence: “I’m available if anybody needs me for anything, I’m just out here farming sheep for fleece while I wait for something to happen.”
  • FATE

It has all the general management options a Guild in most other games would allow with a bank and member ranks, a private chat channel and the ability as of Patch 2.1 to buy a house to serve as a base of operations. See: Final Fantasy XIV - Linkshells and Free Companies
        • Example Sentence: “The Unruly Badgers are a new FC looking for members, /tell Badger Bob for an invite!”

      • Acronym
        • Example Sentence: “FFXIV was a really bad game and I’m so glad they remade it into something worthwhile to play!”
  • FFXIV: ARR / FFXIVARR
    • Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
      • Acronym
        • Example Sentence: “FFXIV: ARR is one of my favorite games to play but I do wish there was more content in it, maybe in a few months I can do more than just a few End Game raids once a week and then not play the rest of the week.”
  • Fish
    • Term, a Japanese term to describe luring or pulling a mob or group to the party or a particular location.

  • FR
    • French

        • Example Sentence: “I rarely ever see FR players, but whenever I do they always seem really on top of their game, I can’t understand why I don’t see them more often!”
  • FSH
    • Fisher
      • Shorthand, used to refer to the DOL class, not the party role. See: Final Fantasy XIV - Gathering and Final Fantasy XIV - Fisher
        • Example Sentence: “FSH is my favorite DOL because I don’t have to move to different areas and I get to see some of the most scenic vistas the game has to offer.”
  • FTL
    • For The Loss
      • Acronym, describes doing something poorly or that something sucks or is bad to do often with a great amount of disdain.
        • Example Sentence: “We have doubles of every Job despite the party leader knowing the Limit Break meter would build very slowly, double Job FTL.”
  • FTW
    • For The Win
      • Acronym, exactly the opposite use of FTL, describes something good or awesome (sometimes sarcastically though) that works quite well or did work out very good.
        • Example Sentence: “That Inner Beast saved my life, I was at 2 health and then crit Inner Beast for 1,200 health back, Inner Beast FTW!”
