DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Below you’ll find all pertinent Item Level sets from 50 up to 95 for WAR, it will be in descending order with the current highest being 95 and 90 which will be directly below.

Item Level Set 95

This Item Level Set contains (as of Patch 2.1 and this writing) only a single item, their Allagan Weapon which was recently, in Patch 2.1 bumped up from Item Level 90 to Item Level 95 in order to better represent the difficulty of obtaining the spoils that drop from Twintania.

Item Slot Drop Location / Acquisition
Allagan Battleaxe Main Weapon Dropped from Turn 5 of The Binding Coil of Bahamut

Item Level Set 90

Item Level Set 90 is primarily from The Binding Coil of Bahamut with a few sprinklings of Extreme Mode Primals (added in Patch 2.1) and the various pieces that can be bought for Tomestomes of Mythology (referred to as Myth or Mythology Tomes) which is a currency that can be obtained by doing High Level Duty Roulette, besting Extreme Mode and Hard Mode Primals, Clearing Turns 1, 2, 4, or 5 of The Binding Coil of Bahamut, or doing High Level Dungeons such as Admapor Keep, Haukke Manor Hard Mode, Copperbell Mine Hard Mode, Pharos Sirius, or The Wanderer’s Palace, additionally Peisteskin Treasure Maps reward the whole party with either 5 or 15 points of Mythology and Beastmen Dailies of Friendly or high reward up to 3 Mythology Tomes per quest. As of Patch 2.1 the weekly cap on earned Mythology Tomes was raised from 300 to 450 (a 50% increase) which has made gaining Mythology items and what has been called Relic Armor (the unique, job specific armor that is essentially a palette swap of the Artifact Armor) affectionately named after the similarly tiered items from Final Fantasy XI, which had a higher tier of Job Specific armor that was a recolored version of the lower Artifact Armor.

Item Level Set 80

Item Level 80 gear was largely missing upon the launch of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and much of it was added in Patch 2.1 alongside Crystal Tower and Ultima Hard Mode. Both of which drop exclusively Item Level 80 gear, which acts as a bridge between the high tier crafted Item Level 70 gear, and the Philosophy Tome Darklight items. Because of this issue The Binding Coil of Bahamut was particularly difficult for many groups due to the high (20 Item Level) disparity between what the content was designed for (Item Level 90) versus what people had available (Item Level 70). For tanks this was particularly brutal because they didn’t have the HP or defensive stats in order to weather the sheer brutality that each Turn’s boss had in store for them. Patch 2.1 set about correcting this, but too little too late for many people as they had already attained Item Level 90 sets either through trudging on inside The Binding Coil of Bahamut or by amassing enough Mythology Tomes to buy what they needed. In fact, the weekly lockout for The Crystal Tower makes it in fact slower to gain a whole set of Item Level 80 gear than it does to grind out Mythology Tomes to cap weekly, and then buy Item Level 90 gear (which is in every way superior). An odd design choice for sure, and one that by the looks of it is going to continue as Patch 2.2 will release the next five turns of The Binding Coil of Bahamut, which will likely have Item Levels of 110, alongside new Job Specific Armor and a new currency in which to buy them and the following 2.3 Patch will release the next section of The Crystal Tower which will likely have Item Levels of 100.

  • A Note About Crystal Tower:

Crystal Tower has a unique form of loot table that allows all bosses the possibility to drop any of the gear that’s attainable in The Crystal Tower. This means that no particular boss drops a specific item and therefore you’ll notice in the tables below that Drop Location / Acquisition will simply list “Crystal Tower: Labyrinth of the Ancients”

Item Level Set 70

Item Level 70 used to be the highest Final Fantasy XIV used to offer, before it became Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Darklight gear was the epitome of what could be gotten and summarily it was much harder to obtain, dropping only if a party cleared the dungeon fast enough, while popping all the chests and it only dropped at a low percentage, rumored to be below five percent chance per piece for a single chest. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn improved upon this, much to the annoyance of people who farmed Cutter’s Cry or Aurum Vale back in 1.0. The powers that be sought to make Darklight the basis for doing End Game Encounters and they transferred it to a currency system which had no limitations or cap and a single player could – if they so chose – completely attain every last piece of Darklight for every job that they wanted. This made it easier for people to begin End Game Encounters on their own and allowed them an avenue of progression previously barred for the majority of the community. Item Level 70 crafted gear was also introduced and the High Quality versions have the exact same main stats as the Darklight pieces with the addition that the crafted pieces can be melded up to five times (referred to as a penta meld) with stat enhancing materia in order to strengthen it far beyond what the Darklight permitted. We’ll see this same thing begin anew in Patch 2.3 when the new Item Level gear is released and Item Level 90 crafted gear recipes are released.

Item Level Set 60

Item Level 60 armor is a stopgap between Artifact and the gear that is crafted and / or obtained through the leveling progression on the way to Level 50 (the current Level Cap as of 2.1). Item Level 60 gear is mostly that of which you’d find in any of the higher dungeons that require a Level 50 character to progress through. Those such as Amdapor Keep, Haukke Manor Hard Mode, The Wanderer’s Palace, Copperbell Mines Hard Mode, and Pharos Sirius all provide chests after defeating one of their many bosses and the majority of this gear comes from those chests. Which in a smart move by SE allows players to gear themselves up in the interim between running these dungeons to get enough Philosophy and Mythology tomes in which to purchase even better gear. This allows the players to gear themselves while doing a worthwhile activity (that of farming philosophy tomes and mythology tomes). Item Level 60 gear is generally relegated to Hard Mode Primals and any more difficult content such as The Crystal Tower, Extreme Mode Primals and The Binding Coil of Bahamut is strictly for higher Item Level sets. A player can partake in those encounters with Item Level 60, but they would not find success.

Item Level 55 Set

Item Level 55 is where we see Grand Company Gear coming into play, they are well-rounded and differentiated sets of gear that give differing bonuses based on which Grand Company the player is affiliated with, though not so much of a difference as to make one Grand Company blatantly superior to the others. We also see Relic Precursor weapons, those that need to be double melded with material and turned in to begin the Relic Reborn quest. As well we begin to see the first signs of uncommon (green text) crafted gear, though it isn’t as complete as the Item Level 70 set, this is our first glimpse into slightly more effective gear that is more difficult to craft than common level 50 recipes. There is also a sprinkling of dungeon gear, usually one set only that comes from either The Aurum Vale or The Wanderer’s Palace – two of the lower end dungeons at Level 50.

Item Level Set 50

The most basic set of equipment in the game currently as of Patch 2.1. This gear’s Item Level is on par with the current Level Cap of 50 and as such this is the most basic gear available. The sets are littered with the lower tier Artifact Armor as well as interspersed with crafted, dropped and Odin or Behemoth FATE gear rewards. None of it is particularly astounding, though the Odin and Behemouth FATE gear rewards do look rather interesting and unique. This is the last Item Level Set that will be covered.
