DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

Prologue

Kale

The great province of Reighton…

Only a couple days have passed since I moved here, so it's no wonder I'm not yet used to the large, bustling cities. I don't really know why I left home. I come from the old town of Anaheim, California. It's a dull little town; the old Disneyland Resort is pretty much all the entertainment you can find around there now. My grandparents would tell me stories when I was a child - stories of pop culture and entertainment, celebrities, and tourism in the Los Angeles area. I'd dream of being a star, strolling up and down the streets of Hollywood. Those days are long gone, though.

When the war ended in 2067, the Americas signed a pact, reestablishing the countries as one large, provincial continent simply named America. The continent now consists of 32 provinces and a few independent states. These states were mostly formed due to land, population, and, most of all, pride. New York, Texas, Brazil, and my home, California, are a few examples. Apparently, the people of California weren't buying the whole “pride” thing considering almost half the population had packed and headed for the provinces by '72. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing; the state remained relatively stable financially, and things were definitely much calmer in the big cities. I was born three years later, in 2075, and lived a simple life in a simple town. Just my family and me.

Dad was a businessman, Mom was a teacher - pretty typical for the non-provincial working-class. Then there were my siblings, the twins, who were four years younger. Caroline always looked up to me as her big sister, especially since I seemed to be there for her when Mom couldn't (or wouldn't). My sister just kept to herself most of the time. Mason was different. He was a good kid, but he was a troublemaker. He didn't enjoy being the only boy, and he hated the jokes his friends made about his twin being a girl. It never made sense to me why kids woud poke fun at him for that, but I guess I never thought about the fact that boys that age have no idea how the whole “baby” thing works. He would pull pranks and get in trouble at school; he was rowdy and loved to give everyone a hard time. Heck, he's still like that today. I've always been the one left with the task of keeping him out of trouble. I guess that's what I get for being the oldest.

That was about it; I lived an ordinary life with ordinary friends and an ordinary family. Next thing I know, I'm 24 and thinking to myself, “Kale Eason, what are you doing with your life?” That's pretty much all it took to get me out of Anaheim. A friend of mine living in Reighton needed a roommate, and I needed a place to stay. Simple. Now, I'm standing here, looking out my new apartment window, trying to embrace the reality that is my new life.
