Brownies with chocolate topping

Another recipe for straight-up brownies with chocolate topping. Nothing fancy, easy to bake, but puts a twist on the old recipe by adding a cocoa topping. Yum!

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 packet butter (margarine)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 + 1/2 cup flour Flavor: rum, lemon peel, vanilla essence

Pour the milk into a pan and add the sugar and cocoa. Simmer on the stove until the mixture thickens a bit. When done take off the stove and add the butter. Mix well, then let cool. This will be the topping.

Separate the yolks and whisk the whites. Set a glass of topping aside, and mix the rest with flour and add the yolks and flavoring. Coat a tray, pour the composition and bake at medium heat.

When it’s done (check for that by sticking a toothpick in. If it comes out clean, it’s done), cut the cake into square or rhomboid shapes. Pour the topping you saved earlier onto the cake, and let cool.
