Portrait of A Growing Family

Ours is a family that's deeply rooted in trusted premium quality products.

While Del Monte Pacific Limited, the parent company, is based in Singapore, its subsidiaries are based in the Philippines, China and India. Despite distance, the family is kept together by the common business of growing, processing, and selling premium-branded food and beverage products. The family holds exclusive rights to use the Del Monte brand in the Indian Subcontinent and owns it in Philippines where it enjoys leading market shares for pineapple, mixed fruits and tomato-based products. The family also supplies processed and fresh produce to the rest of the world via trade partners.

But there's more to this family now than growing pineapples. The family has taken off to a new route, pouring investments to strengthen its brand portfolio and penetrate promising markets. In the last two years, the family has started dismantling its decades-old boundaries and begun to “grow beyond borders.” Family patriarch CEO and Managing Director Joselito Campos, Jr. has made a call to the frontlines - for all family members in the Philippines, China, India and Singapore to march together and transform the business into a global branded consumer products company with the strength to produce a variety of food products to sell all over the world.

Acquiring 40.1% of Field Fresh, a leading fruit and vegetable producer in India, was a key step towards this new direction. Like a newborn baby, a welcome addition to the family is the premium S&W brand, whose distribution rights in markets outside of the Americas and Australia/New Zealand was purchased by the company last year and is expected to provide the family with a global reach.

With these new investments, the family wants to capitalize on market opportunities by gaining more revenues from fresh pineapple and other fruits from the Philippines, China and India under brands that it can sell all over the world.

As the business grows, it's time we get to know more about the members of our ever-growing family.

Under the Merlion's Watch

Asia's Lion City is home to Del Monte Pacific Ltd. The city-state of Singapore, Southeast Asia's smallest country but among the world's best financial centers, has been our headquarters since 1999, when DMPL was incorporated and listed in the Singapore Stock Exchange.

From this Asian “melting pot,” foreign companies like DMPL reach out to markets around the world. DMPL is 80% owned by NutriAsia Pacific Ltd., a company under the NutriAsia Group of Companies owned by the Campos family of the Philippines. The NutriAsia Group is a leader in the condiments and sauces market in the Philippines.

In Singapore's central business district, amid high-rise hotels, shopping malls and corporate offices, DMPL occupies a unit in an office building. Two of DMPL's subsidiaries - DMPL Management Services Pte. Ltd. and GTL Ltd (DMPL's principal export arm) - are based here. The organization is lean, with a strength of 13. Like its host-country, its “small” set-up belies the giant task it has efficiently managed over the past decade. The staff manages the books of account of eight subsidiaries across Asia, manages investor relations, as well as oversees sales and marketing networks around the globe.

Working closely with the team are DMPL Chief Finance Officer Ignacio Carmela Sison and Richard Blossom, president and managing director of GTL and the management services group, respectively. Here at our headquarters, members of the DMPL Board of Directors meet and carve out our business route in the years beyond.
