DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

Betting on God

Have you ever heard any person say these words - “I do not need God in my life.”?

Maybe you have flickered through a novel in which the author described a detailed philosophical image of his own freedom and every one of page seemed to declare, “I do not need God in my life.”

Maybe you have seen a pop star on television. He is a multimillionaire with royalties rolling in on every CD sale and concert tickets. The pop star acquired more money than he knows how to spend with; he is squirming in a pool of free sex and free drugs. With 10 groupies around him, he stares at the camera and declares, “Listen, dude, I do not need God in my life.”

Maybe it is a thing that's even appeared into your own thoughts. After all, you declare to yourself, you appeared here in this world without God. One sperm cell and one egg and got you in this world. Then your good looks and good grades got you success in life. And for several years, you have slaved 55-hour work weeks to get to the top of your profession. You are getting a promotion at the end of the year, you are paying for your house faster and your mutual funds are increasing every month. Success is really rolling in, everything because of your talent and hard work. And you thought to yourself, with just a few words, but - Hey, I do not need God in my life. Actually, I do not need anybody’s help.

Is it intelligent to have these thoughts? Is it alright to have these thoughts?

Clearly, a Christian follower like me is not going to believe so. But I will admit one thing: Even if God is real, which I am He is, it is your decision to live your life with or without Him. You can be alive to the age of 65, 75, 85 years with every second of your life as God’s gift, with every heart beat a present from Him, and give completely no regard to Him your whole life. You can have the best life and then disregard Him each day of your entire God-given life.

But what’s next?

The Biggest Bet

My friend elaborated what I consider is the ambitious bet of all time. This ambitious bet is formed on two elements: first is that no person can claim that God is real. And the second one is that no one can prove that He is not real.

I believe God is real; I see proof everywhere I look. But I cannot go inside a forensics laboratory and gather evidence that He is real. Both the supposition and my belief and that God does not rely on faith elements.

What if, then, that I gamble my life that He is real, and you gamble yours that He is not, that we humans are all alone on this small planet earth. Just like what the lyrics from a song of John Lennon, “Imagine there's no heaven, above us only sky.”

So we both go on with our lives and then after seventy or eighty years we both will die. Let us say that you are correct, and we both are laid to rest in the ground for all eternity. Although I have gambled my life that God is real, I have not missed a moment even though I was not right.

What happens if you are wrong? What happens if you have gambled your life believing that God is not real, and then one day you stare at the skies and recognize a very large bright cloud that increases in size until it occupies the entire skyline and you hear angel choirs and trumpets and you see Jesus Christ coming back to this world as a victorious King and He is coming to save the people who have decided to have faith in Him?

What happens next?

If I bet on the existence of God and I am not correct, I have not forlorn anything anyway. But if you bet against the existence of God and you spent your life on that belief and you are incorrect, therefore you have just wasted it all.

Why are there many people living in this world decide on taking the short side of this bet? Why would any person put their eternal existence, on the seventy to eighty years of this life, when they could make a decision to have faith in God and have eternity in exchange?

I will explain to you why. Every person has an adversary out there who likes to resemble the entire human lifespan with him look tempting. He will make an illusion that man will miss something grand if we walk on the road of God. He makes it look like there is some good-looking bits of bright lights on his road we simply must be involved with.

Unfortunately, most people go for the short burst of the temporary pleasure - so-called fun. Even though we recognize that the devil's carnival is finished all too soon, millions of people still line up and buy tickets to Satan’s show. Seventy to eighty years of living, after that, a grave and a tombstone.

Oftentimes, we decide to take the now in exchange of the forever.

  • Single people want to remain sexually pure for their future spouse, but this moment now, this very night, they want to be embraced; they want to feel the love.
  • Marriage couples struggling in a rocky union go thru the easy way out because they want to escape the difficulty now.
  • Teenage girls shocked by unwanted, unexpected pregnancy cannot imagine undergoing the next nine months. But a decision to have an abortion settles things right now.
  • Dieters visualize about the possibility of being fit and thin in the following months but here is this big bowl of chocolate ice cream in front of them right now.
  • Teenagers know that a drug-free future is really their goal, but a friend takes out a pill for them to get high now.

We find that the existence of God's is a fifty-fifty bet, and during our entire life, in so many choices, in so many ways, we decide to take the temporary pleasures.

You Need Him

Accept my invitation right now to imagine the future and have faith in God. Not because for the selfish reward of being on the victorious side, of having an eternal life, of walking on streets of gold and an elegant mansion and all of these things. Choose God because in this very moment, you need Him.

The theologian Augustine wrote before that each person has a God-shaped hole inside all of us. You can attempt to fill this soul hunger, to fulfill this longing, with material things; you can pack it full of fragile and temporary shiny toys but you won't be satisfied that way. Only Him will ever really satisfy this hole in all of us.

Mankind has attempted just about everything under the sun, desperately needing to patch up that God-shaped hole.

What the devil influenced our ancestors was the promise that they would become like gods – could go on their own life as if they had made themselves - be their own masters - generate some kind of fulfillment outside God, apart from Him.

And out of that vain attempt has produced almost all that we acknowledge as the history of the human race – classes, empires, slavery, war, prostitution, money, poverty, ambition – the terrible, long story of man searching something other than Him which will make him fulfilled.

Now, why has not it ever succeeded? Here is the explanation: The cause why it can never succeed is because God created us: created us as a man creates an engine. An automobile is created to be run on gasoline, and the car would not work correctly on any other fluids.

Now He intended the human machine to function on God Himself. God is the gasoline the human spirits were designed to burn, or the nourishment our spirits were intended to feed on. There is no other way but only God.

Every political system and every civilization in history has run along with no problem for a little while and then it always crumbles down. The machine conks.

Agony and Rage

In places like Russia, The machine conks. Pure agony and rage occurs in governments and in the lives of broken-hearted men and women who imagined they were clever enough to be fulfilled without Him. They visualized they can fill that God-shaped hole with suitcases full of cash and power or caviar. But it always fails. It does not function over there, and it does not function here either.

Maybe right now people feel empty inside or they do not feel empty at all. Not yet, anyway. Your temporary enjoyment still continues. You are still munching your “cotton candy”. In the carnival, the neon on ride is still brightly glowing. Your machine has not begun to fail just yet.

These high-powered executives who thought the good times would run forever. They were generating millions of dollars in the profitable video pornography industry; their warehouses were producing millions of X-rated movies.

They said, “Nobody can touch us now!” and they laughed. “Our business cannot be stopped.”

However, this little empire of filth was located in the state of California. And on January 17, 1994, at exactly 4:31 in the early morning, the walls started crumbling down. The porn creators, businessmen of the “fun” of cheap sex and temporary enjoyment, had an immediate foretaste of forever when a strong earthquake tumbled their video duplicating warehouses and their studios.

Maybe after the quake, just one of those porn businessmen stared at all the ruins and thought to himself, “There is Someone bigger than me out there.”

A heavenly force larger than this fragmented, fragile warehouse and this unstable earth.

“Maybe there are opportunities after my seventieth birthday and this filthy occupation to deceive enough men so that I can die rich.”

Right now, God is showing you that same signal. “I am here,” He declares. “I love you, and I need you. And you need Me too.”

Are you paying attention to God?
