Baked Buffalo Wings Recipe

You don't need a deep fryer to make excellent crispy buffalo wings. By following this recipe you will be able to use your oven to make buffalo wings that taste like they are deep fried, but without the mess and oil.

Overview and Ingredients

The real secret to crispy oven baked wings is to boil the chicken wings first. Boiling the wings before they are baked in the oven helps to melt away excess chicken fat, and the result is a crispier wing. Here's what you'll need:

  • 2 lbs chicken wing pieces - uncooked
  • 4 Tablespoons of salt
  • 1 bottle Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Wings Sauce

Step By Step Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F.

2. Heat up a large pot of water until it is boiling. Add the salt while it is heating up.

3. Boil the chicken wing pieces for 8-10 minutes.

4. Once boiled, remove the chicken wing pieces from the water and set them in a strainer or on a wire rack. The goal is to dry them off as well as possible. Use a paper towel to dry them off if you need to. (This will help with the crispiness later.)

5. Line a cookie sheet with foil, and spray the foil with a non-stick spray. Space each chicken wing piece evenly on the foil.

6. Bake the wings for 30 minutes. Optional: Turn each wing piece and bake for another 5-7 minutes.

7. Place the cooked wing pieces in a large glass or metal bowl. Add Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce and stir until all of the wings are covered with sauce.

8. Enjoy!

If you order buffalo wings at a restaurant, it's probably that they used a deep fryer to cook and prepare them. While tasty, buffalo wings cooked in this manner are terribly unhealthy. Baking your buffalo wings results in a much healthier meal with less mess to clean up when you're done.
