DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!

AnonCoin

AnonCoin is a cryptocurrency, or alt coin, which has been designed specifically for use within the 'darknet'. It aims to provide the greatest possible privacy and anonymity to its users, and to be compatible with other privacy services.

The Darknet and Digital Currency

The darknet is a private and anonymous internet. Websites hosted within the darknet will not show up in Google search results, and visitors need to have the correct darknet software installed on their computer in order to visit the site. Most darknet software systems also allow their users to browse the regular internet completely anonymously - without anybody being able to track which websites they are visiting or what they are doing there. Sometimes the terms 'darknet' and 'deep web' are used interchangeably, but my understanding is that the deep web is a broader term which also includes private, but not anonymous internet services such as membership sites, corporate intranets and academic databases.

A service called TOR, or 'The Onion Router' provides access to the most popular darknet. TOR services have been used for years, by everyone from democracy campaigners and rights activists in repressive regimes, to journalists, to criminals, to regular people who just don't like the idea of governments spying on them or multinational corporations poring over every bit of available data about them.

Digital currency, or cryptpocurrency, got its first big break inside the darknet. During the early days of Bitcoin much of its growth came from users of TOR wishing to make anonymous financial transactions. The anonymity of Bitcoin was seen as one if its great strengths - because it effectively acted like a kind of digital cash which you could spend without credit card companies, banks, and god knows who else knowing everything that you are doing. Of course it was also popular amongst criminals, who used it for buying and selling illegals goods and services within TOR.

But in actual fact, Bitcoin is not entirely anonymous. Whilst you can create a Bitcoin wallet anonymously, all transactions are a matter of public record, meaning that any wallet can be tracked and potentially connected with its owner, and all of the transactions associated with that wallet recorded and analysed.

AnonCoin's Unique Features

The AnonCoin website claims that it is the only digital currency which supports I2P, which is a successor to TOR that offers a robust and increasingly popular darknet service.

The coin is designed to be compatible with both I2P and TOR, ensuring that users of these services can conduct financial transactions without compromising the full level of privacy protection provided by those services. The development team behind the coin say that they are working on building a 'coin mixer' service into their wallet, meaning that a third party would not be able to trace where a given payment originally came from, adding an extra level of anonymity. They are also working on deeper integration with darknet services, such as developing a facility for anonymous web hosting, and a wallet with I2P privacy protection built into it.
